Kanamo Peak Experiences
Kanamo Peak is a stunning high-altitude peak located in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Standing at an impressive altitude of approximately 19,600 ft (5,970 meters), Kanamo Peak offers an incredible non-technical climbing experience for adventure enthusiasts who wish to step into the world of high-altitude expeditions.
Unlike technical mountaineering peaks that require advanced climbing skills, Kanamo Peak is considered a trekking peak. However, due to its extreme altitude, it demands excellent physical fitness, endurance, and proper acclimatization. The expedition rewards climbers with breathtaking panoramic views of the Spiti Valley, Kinnaur ranges, and snow-covered Himalayan landscapes.
The journey begins from the peaceful village of Kibber, one of the highest motorable villages in the world. As you ascend, the barren cold desert terrain of Spiti creates a dramatic and unique backdrop. The highlight of the expedition is summit day, where climbers push through rocky slopes and snow patches to reach the top. Standing on the summit of Kanamo Peak is a truly unforgettable achievement.
Kanamo Peak is ideal for trekkers looking to experience their first 6,000-meter peak in a relatively safe and non-technical environment.
Best Time to Visit
The best time for the Kanamo Peak Expedition is from June to September.
June – July
Snow patches at higher altitudes
Clear skies and stable weather
Ideal for early season climbers
August – September
Less snow on the trail
Clear and sharp mountain views
Pleasant daytime temperatures
The expedition is not recommended during winter months due to extreme cold and heavy snowfall. Early monsoon has minimal impact in Spiti compared to other regions.
