Bali Pass Trek Experiences
The Bali Pass Trek is one of the most thrilling and challenging high-altitude treks in Uttarakhand. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, this trek connects the beautiful Har Ki Dun Valley with the sacred Yamunotri region, offering a spectacular mix of alpine meadows, dense forests, glacial terrain, and high mountain passes.
The journey usually begins from Sankri village, a well-known trekking base in Uttarakhand. As you move through traditional Himalayan villages, pine forests, and scenic river valleys, the landscape gradually transforms into vast alpine meadows and rugged mountain terrain. One of the most beautiful highlights of the trek is Ruinsara Tal, a stunning glacial lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
The ultimate challenge comes when crossing Bali Pass at around 16,200 ft. The steep climb to the pass involves glacier walking and snow slopes, making it a true adventure for experienced trekkers. From the top, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of peaks such as Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Kala Nag. The descent leads towards Yamunotri, one of the sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites.
The Bali Pass Trek is categorized as difficult, making it ideal for trekkers with prior high-altitude trekking experience and good physical fitness.
