Black Peak Experiences
The Black Peak Trek, also known as the Kala Nag Expedition, is one of the most challenging and rewarding mountaineering expeditions in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Standing at an impressive altitude of around 6,387 meters (20,955 ft), Black Peak is the highest peak in the Bandarpoonch range and offers a thrilling adventure for experienced trekkers and climbers.
The journey usually begins from Sankri village, a popular trekking base in Uttarakhand. The trail passes through the scenic Har Ki Dun Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Himalayas. Trekkers move through dense forests, alpine meadows, traditional Himalayan villages, and glacial terrain before reaching the base camp of Black Peak.
The highlight of the expedition is the summit attempt, where climbers ascend through snowfields, glaciers, and steep slopes. From the summit, climbers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of famous Himalayan peaks such as Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and other Garhwal ranges. The expedition requires strong physical fitness, technical climbing skills, and proper acclimatization due to the high altitude.
