Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek Experiences
The Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek is one of the most popular and scenic treks in Uttarakhand, located in the Garhwal Himalayas. Often referred to as the Mini Switzerland of India, Chopta is known for its lush green meadows, dense forests, and breathtaking views of snow-covered Himalayan peaks.
The trek begins from Chopta, a small hill station surrounded by beautiful alpine landscapes. The trail gradually ascends towards Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world and one of the sacred temples of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit. The path to Tungnath is well-marked and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
From Tungnath, trekkers continue towards Chandrashila Summit, situated at an altitude of around 13,100 ft. The summit is famous for its panoramic 360-degree views of the Himalayan ranges including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and Kedarnath peaks. Watching the sunrise from Chandrashila is one of the most magical experiences in the Himalayas.
The trek is considered easy to moderate, making it perfect for beginners as well as experienced trekkers looking for a short yet rewarding adventure.
